When Love isn’t just a Feeling: The Proposal

“You don’t have to be surprised, Sikemi,” Melvin said.

“Yeah! Infact, we are happy to have such an intelligent lady as you on this team,” Bomi said with his heart crushing smile. Others nodded in agreement.

When Love Isn’t Just a Feeling: His Intentions

Now, that was a real kill joy for me! I thought it was just going to be me and him. All the other faces were familiar. Freida, Toke and a third friend, Hadiza were included.

What was Bomi up to? I took a good look at him. He was wearing a short sleeve, brown, button-up,  plaid shirt and a pair of skinny jeans. His soaring afro hair was just the right signature as well as his perfume. I looked at his loafers. They were on point! Then, his smile. His smile!

When Bomi smiles at you, it’s like a thousand angels have visited you. Those twinkles in his eyes…Was I falling for him? No, I was smitten Continue reading

When Love isn’t just a Feeling: I Love the Anatomy of the Human Body

A trip to the doctor’s is my worst trip ever, especially when it is the opposite sex. What joy they derive from touching those sacred parts all in the name of medical examination. Do I blame them? All thanks to Mom who is a major campaigner of breast cancer awareness. So, everyone [including the male species] had to make this ‘trip’ at least once in three months to check for any ‘lump’. When Love Isn’t Just a Feeling: The New Me

“Oluwafolasikemi,” he said.

“Sir,” I replied trying to be as calm as possible.

“Kindly read for us, Romans one verse twenty eight and share with us what you understand,” my father did not shift his gaze on me. I searched through the scriptures, trying to maintain my poise. Continue reading

When Love isn’t Just a Feeling: Don’t Wake Me Up! 2

I stared at my phone. It was screaming and like a baby, waiting to be attended to. I looked at my mom & then, back at my phone.

The confused expression on Mom’s face could not be mistaken. I could tell that she did not understand why I wouldn’t pick the call.

My phone rang on. And the identity of the unrepentant caller kept appearing like a flash – BOMI. Was I still dreaming? Continue reading

When Love isn’t Just a Feeling: Don’t Wake Me Up!

Frieda and Toke kept glancing back at him. I blushed and flushed. What on earth?

“Guys! Stop staring at him! He’d suspect we’re talking about him” I muttered under my breath.

“Biko! How long do you want to suffer in silence?” Frieda shouted in her usual extroverted demeanor. Continue reading
